The Norwegian Funds have for years supported initiatives aimed at facilitating young people's access to employment. Despite significant progress in this regard, a significant proportion of young people still remain excluded from both the education system and the labour market. This is especially true for women aged 24 to 29 living in rural areas and small towns.
With this group in mind, organisations from several European countries have initiated a project aimed at preventing the social exclusion of young women. Under the coordination of Formac, vocational training centres from Germany and Austria will share their knowledge and experience with partners from Poland, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Malta, Spain and Italy.
Young women with difficulties in finding their way in the labour market and in society require a variety of support. In addition to help in returning to education and finding employment, they need skills to overcome barriers, self-confidence and motivation, i.e. both professional and psychological counselling. The project, planned to run for over two years, will provide on-the-job training and training for future-oriented professions and online jobs. There will also be mobile teams offering counselling for work and social services.
